365 Letters to Myself

August 11th, Put on a happy face...

While scrolling through my LinkedIn feed I came upon Harvey MacKay’s weekly post – today on smiling! Just finished a conversation with a friend, sharing the work they are doing on their business - a focus on finding the joy in one’s life. Think there’s a theme going on…and I love it. I have been practicing more all day to smile to myself, since I am mostly alone today. It would be fun though if I could do so to others and see their reaction. Bet they might say, “What?” in a moment of paranoia. Perhaps they would smile back and maybe spread it on. The studies are all out there, such a simple act has mounds of supportive data for improving ours and others life.

A smile can be the reflection of inner joy. Not happiness, which I define as a “state of mind” but joy. Joy comes from the heart, the soul, the inner being, as a natural outcome of being true to oneself and those important in our lives, honoring values, success with our goals, and the genuine feeling of abundance… to me. It’s an expression of knowing you have a blessed life and the peace, contentment of being in such a place. I have a prayer I say most days asking for joy in my life, an opportunity exists for me to expand, may joy have a greater presence in everyone’s life.

Hmmm, Joy to the world…day 29!

Thank you if you choose to join the journey. Let's hope it is more fun than tears!
