365 Letters to Myself

April 22nd- 90...

How often does one get to attend a 90th surprise birthday party… at a bar?! What a special day for a man (and his wife of 67 years), celebrating a life that if you didn’t know, could be a good 20 years younger. He is blessed to be healthy and able to keep living as he enjoys! What a gift worthy of the party his son wanted to throw.

The key to pulling off the surprise is to keep it believable. Going to the bar, after the cabin neighbors helped put the dock in, was normal. So there was a few more cars in the lot than usual and a curious ‘F’ accompanied the walk down the stairs – but he was surprised! And you could tell quite touched, almost overwhelmed.

So, in rare form, table to table, he visited and told his ‘claim to fame’ jokes. We all soaked up being in his presence and appreciating the significance of the milestone. A round of ‘He’s a Jolly Good Fellow”, “Happy Birthday”! THE epitome of how to be 90 in my opinion.

Age is a number, those that you can call loved ones, friends, a more relevant one!

Hmmm, and kicking…day 262!

Thank you if you choose to join the journey. Let's hope it is more fun than tears!
