December 29th, I appreciate you...
What beautiful words to receive and how often do I just brush them aside…a lot! When I am so blessed to be told by a client lately, “appreciate you and all you do”, I am trying harder to hear their words. Not just offer a quick thanks, act like no big deal.
Being appreciated to me is an important gift to give and be given. I pray regularly that my kids experience it in their relationships – as I watch too often the ‘lack’ of it, mostly in the way they speak to each other in their day-to-day interactions I might witness. I remember early on in my own marriage, embracing the importance of this being a foundational piece to practice regularly. I try to demonstrate behaviors using the magic phrases, “Please” and “Thank-you”. I would like to do a better job of sending written thank-yous as relevant.
I think I am working on embracing this, as I have spent so much of my career (and life) not receiving such acknowledgement AND feeling unworthy of it, for whatever reasons. When I say it I want people to feel it, so I must give them the same respect of accepting it.
Appreciation suggests one is or has done something worthy… I am deserving!
Hmmm, Thank you…day 161!
Thank you if you choose to join the journey. Let's hope it is more fun than tears!
