July 31st, Serendipity...
What a great story father told of 'what was meant to be' in his homily! I am fascinated when I hear people share how their life was like a puzzle of pieces that purposefully and magically fell into place. It seems so 'easy' for them...and I try not to question why not so for me. There is no denying I am often surrounded by signs and moments that seem serendipitous, filled with signs to be appreciated and embraced, but the big Aha, like the one in father's story, does it still elude me? Or am I blocking it? Or have I missed it?
How many opportunities do we get in life to experience such momentous events? I imagine there is no one fits all, every situation unique to the individual. I am curious if there is a pattern in how those that are recipients share a commonality in actions, personality, beliefs. Is there a faith element, are they simply lucky? Dare I say they do something that is more favorable, ‘better’, live in a manner that is deserving. Whatever it takes, I am open to doing – could use such a mini-miracle, validation that me and my faith have done well.
