365 Letters to Myself

October 25th, Election season...

I have always cared about elections – exercising my right to vote. Have to say though with every new election cycle, I seem to become more invested, more concerned, more opinionated. Mostly, my message has been and is – know your values, be educated, align to the candidate that is most in step with you. I like to use the phrases – positions over personalities, results over rhetoric, policies over parties and so on.

With every new election season, they become more stressful, uglier and engaging like a bad accident! There is too much money, they go on too long, and in most situations too much a brutal attack on characters. How can this turn around – I offer a limited campaign (6 months tops, including primaries), fixed equal budgets (perhaps one federal pot, we the taxpayers donate to at tax time, special interests cannot contribute, or?), only ads that educate the candidates position/policies, not smearing. Not perfect solutions but let the conversations begin.

But for now, it is what it is and hopefully in 2 weeks it is over, with integrity, not an embarrassment that goes on for days and weeks.

Hmmm, results over rhetoric…day 101!

Thank you if you choose to join the journey. Let's hope it is more fun than tears!
