October 12th, National calendar...
Quite often I am peeking at “National Calendar Day”… a couple of interesting ones over the last days. Today, National Freethought Day. Yesterday, National Coming Out Day. I am more use to the Blueberry pie, Dress, Administrative Assistant Day. Then there is also the weeks and months to honor!
Curious how one is to interpret and or celebrate Freethought Day. I am all over the place on this…isn’t freethought the greatest gift from God, and our U.S. birthright? So, is that what we are celebrating? And like Mother's, Father's Day we designate a specific day, even though it should be respected, appreciated every day! Sadly, in current climate, is it a call out to we ‘get’ to do so today as so many other days, the narratives and thoughts are leading, being dictated to us? I sincerely hope the intent of creating such a day is to highlight and encourage all to appreciate and use, what sets us apart from all other living creatures, the human ability to practice, exercise freethought! Now more than ever, my opinion it is needed!!
