Mommy will make it better...
A mother’s badge of honor, “all better”, as we bandage, nurse, support, listen, fix, hold, coach and so on. Often rising to the occasion and amazed by our superpowers. Those moments though when there is absolutely nothing we can do to help our children, plain and simple, hurt! It’s unrealistic to think such times will escape a lifetime, of course life is going to be tough occasionally. As a parent you pray, hope, plan to keep them to a few, far and in-between.
Around a week ago, out of nowhere really, the moment to be avoided, happened. Helpless! When your grown son has his current life and future vision blown up – through a text. Not the decency of a conversation, no respect, chance to address it, only cowardice and conniving. Multiple causalities at the hand of a selfish, spoiled act that though carefully designed, lack any common sense and constructive thoughtfulness for the longer term.
I’ve tried to fix it as much as possible over the last 10 days, provided care, sourced resources, talked it through, affirmed feelings, shared in disbelief but nothing will make it better. It becomes an event that outlines the next chapter, with many blank pages ahead and writings of solutions, pain, anger, hope, new dreams, that will gradually populate them.
Hmmm, until she is helpless... 315!
Thank you if you choose to join the journey. A better life, a better way.
