It is HOT

Oh what a summer it’s been… HOT days! As far as seasons go, I have always been a summer kind of girl. Could be because my birthday is smack in the middle of July, so Cancer is my sign and water is my element. I enjoy the longer hours of light, morning walks, and deck evenings. It practically kills me to admit though, not a big fan of the humidity this summer has brought, as we enter another week of 90’s and high dew points. What is it about aging that makes the heat less tolerable? Of course, it seems perfectly normal not to want to be soaking wet, sitting still, in air that you can actually feel.  In Minnesota summer is short and to complain about it in any way has always seemed hypocritical – we don’t want the cold, but can’t handle heat? So, this is me, appreciating it’s HOT. I will wear fun summer clothes, get out for a walk before 8 am, keep having coffee on the deck, occasionally wine in the evening and invite myself to my son’s apartment on the lake. I will ask for tables outside at restaurants, drink festive drinks, eat ice cream and find some water to sit by/in. When I look in the mirror I do appreciate the sun-kissed look, looking back at me! Dare I suggest the reflection is HOT, ha-ha, for 61?

And I will cheat, spend more time in the air conditioning then I want to admit, to keep cool. Ugh.

Hmmm, hotter... 314!
