April 18th - Pick up the phone...
In this environment of email, text and now zoom, I would be curious to know, relationally, how many phone calls and person to person meetings happen, in business relationships.
I have always preferred to be in person for business, choosing to hop on a plane in my previous career and be with a client or partner. Email followed next and phone calls as necessary. With the changes in business communications in the last few years, I’ve adapted to the zoom, the text and still make the phone an as needed option, willing to be in person when opportunity presents. What is it about making a phone call I shy away from?
This week I was reminded how effective talking can be! It is a quicker exchange, you know the other person’s tone, easier to ensure clarity and simply, it is nice. In this call, it was possible to feel the connection, as we talked through the reasons for it. Some people are good at initiating a call and I am happy to be the recipient! Though I do continue to believe there is a place for my go to in my new chapter – email… I do need to improve upon when my email may ‘get me in trouble’ and pick up the phone, engage in a pleasant chat!
