365 Letters to Myself

March 21st - Change the view...

In my coaching class we did an interesting exercise and the more I think about it the more I like it and plan to consider it in appropriate situations.

It starts by being prompted to consider a moment in life that was disruptive. I bulleted, my car accident, going to treatment. Then you bullet thoughts on what was in the way, what were the costs, what might you be selling short, what were you trying to maintain, when did the pain of staying become bigger than doing something different. Once all these thoughts are captured, we wrote for the next minute – but it was encouraged to write from a different point then usual, current. So, if you start chronologically, what if you started your writing from the middle, the end.

I chose to start at the end, which was about my first love (pain of staying…). I thought I was way beyond this, what did it mean, why wasn’t I writing about the accident and treatment? Perhaps this will become more apparent as the homework is to capture the writing in a one page story. How interesting when we change from our common place to an alternative point of view.

To change the story, change the view.

Hmmm, to see something else…day 230!

Thank you if you choose to join the journey. Let's hope it is more fun than tears!
